
Hartford’s annual rally and festival will take place on the first Saturday of June. Among the entertainers scheduled to perform as of press time are Tiffany, Sister Funk and Betty.
Boston has a week-long schedule of Pride events, but the wrap-up weekend is the most eventful, featuring block parties, the annual parade (Saturday, June 13th at 12 noon, rain or shine) and entertainer Taylor Dayne as the headline act. This year’s theme is “Trans-forming the Community.”
Hosted by the Triangle Community Center, Pride 2009 consists of two pieces: the daytime celebration from 1-4 p.m. at St Paul’s on the Green, 60 East Ave., Norwalk, CT, and Pride After Dark, a nighttime club event with DJ Lady Tita ($20 cover) starting at 9 p.m. at the TCC, 16 River St., Norwalk.
Rhode Island Pridefest, New England’s second largest pride celebration, features the largest GLBT Marketplace and Business Exposition in the region, with a mix of national and local entertainment.
The RI PrideFest also features the Kidz Pride Zone, an area specifically created for children, kids and families. That piece runs from 12:00-8:30.
Then the real magic begins: the annual Illuminated Parade, the only one of its kind in New England, which kicks off at 8:30.
Sunday, June 28 is the granddaddy of Pride events in New York City. This year’s theme is “Paint the Town Ruby: Stonewall 40.”

Rescheduled this year to not go head to head with Connecticut Pride, Robb Bart and the team at Gotham Citi will bring their ever popular block party back to New Haven in August, this time on August 1. Expect the usual fun mix of tables, trinkets and a great evening inside Gotham Citi as Connecticut’s longest-running gay night brings an old friend back.
Last year’s Trans Pride March will not be repeated this year, according to a post on the Transgender Pride web site.
