In the upcoming June issue you'll get a chance to get to know more about Hank & Cupcakes, a drum/bass duo originally from Tel Aviv and now in Brooklyn. The duo's debut album, "Naked," is about to become available and features a variety of infectious, amped up tunes.

Their album is available as a downloadable preview for just $5 right now on their website; it will go up to the normal price upon official release this Friday.

I got to know them initially when I saw them as an opening act earlier this year for Company of Thieves at the Bowery Ballroom.  All of us who went that evening were blown away by the energy of the duo, which included the lead singer doing double duty on the drums.  The set, which ultimately included songs featured on the new album, blew the audience away.  Thankfully, those of you who haven't seen them live will have ample chance to do so.

Our coverage of them precedes two stops in Connecticut in July; they'll be in Hamden Sunday, July 8 and then the following Friday will be playing a free concert in Westport.
