Dear Uncle Blabby,
Is it wrong for me not to get married to my boyfriend? Our relationship seems to work fine the way it is, but it seems that if you don’t get married the more “advanced” gays will look down on you. What ever happened to being different?
Ron, Groton, Conn.
Dear Ron,
Who the hell are these “advanced” gays that you refer to? The relationship between ANY two people only needs to be what those two people decide that it is. Period. It absolutely does not need to conform to anyone else’s standards. Personally I think it’s wonderful that we now have the opportunity in Conn. to legally marry. But it certainly isn’t for everyone and there is definitely something to be said for being different!!
As different as they come,
Uncle Blabby
Dear Blabby,
Who the hell is this Mistress Manners that now has a column in Metroline? I thought your column was doing just fine. I fi nd her to be boring and mundane. Is it just me, or is the magazine trying to give equal rights to a lesbian?
Concerned,
Cromwell, CT
Dear Concerned,
Don’t be at all concerned about the Blabby column. I can assure you that I was here before Mistress Manners and will be here long after she fades away. She has a unique take on some subjects, and she has a following, or the magazine wouldn’t publish her column. Should be fun at the next Metroline Christmas party.
#1 advice column in Metroline,
Uncle Blabby
Dear Uncle Blabby,
Why do straight actors seem to always play the big gay parts in the movies and on TV? Aren’t there gay actors that can play gay parts?
J.E.D., Torrington, Conn.
Dear JED,
Of course there are gay actors that can play the big gay parts in those films. Hollywood has gotten over those types of stereotypes for the most part. And I think what we’ve seen is that the “straight” actors that are playing those gay parts eventually turn out to be not that straight anyway. I for one enjoy the fantasy of seeing those “straight” actors taking one for the team!!
Not acting and not straight,
Uncle Blabby
