Love Makes a Family Should Not Close; The Battle for Equality is Still Not Over

To the Editor:

I feel obligated to respond [regarding MetroMinis: Love Makes a Family to Close at Year’s End].

The decision to cease operations is a huge mistake, and must be reversed.

I am shocked and disappointed. I am one of the 20,000 supporters of LMAF, and the thought of LMAF disbanding is extremely painful.

The leadership of LMAF, specifically Anne Stanback and Carol Buckheit, have inspired and motivated thousands to become active in the civil rights movement.

How can LMAF cease operations when the leaders and policies of the Catholic church and the Fmaily Institute of Connecticut remain the same?

The struggle for gay civil rights has a long way to go, and LMAF is a vital part of achieving equality.

Anne, please tell us it isn’t so!

It’s imperative that LMAF reconsider their decision.
