Hey guys. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with all the trimmings. I know I did. A long ride to Long Island but we spent an absolutely wonderful day with some very special friends. It was a day that really brought home the true concept of being thankful for what you have. Like very special friends. Another thing I am greatful for is this job. I get to meet all kind of new friends and experience new things.
Like right this very moment I am sitting in the Fox Theater at the fantastic Foxwoods Resort Casino. It is their Media Night and we are about to experience the Legends in Concert show. Nothing for nothing, but these performers beat the pants off drag queens let me tell you. I swear it is pretty hard to tell I am not being entertained by the actual real-life performers. They are here until Jan. 3 and it is worth the trip, time and price of admission. Not a bad idea at all for the holidays as a quick getaway.
The next thing I want to touch on is our clubs. You have heard me say time and again that we as a community need to support the clubs. These guys, Donnie at O’Neils Brass Rail, Rob at Gotham Citi, Jon and Jason at Center Street, Dave at Partners, and Matty and Wayne at Frank’s Place to name a few, have been really working hard to give you more and more reasons to come out and party with them. It takes a lot to put on that simple drag show. And the things going on at Gotham do not come cheap.
If we want to be able to have places like this to party, we all need to get out and support these fine establishments with our business.
This leads me to a point that may not be very popular with some of you.
(Excuse me for a moment, the Temptations just came on. I’ll be right back! You would swear you were in back in Detroit during the days of Motown.)
Anyway there is a segment of our community that seem to have taken to “pre-gaming.” That is the tendency to get the bulk of your drinking done before you actually go out. This does not help us keep the clubs open and in business. It actually hurts them.
Please, bring your business to the clubs. That is how we support them the best way we can. Until then, I hope you all have the very best holiday season you can, and I highly recommend checking out this show — the Elvis doppelganger was amazing.
I hope to see you out and about.
