Flea Parties

Several of the candidates are already lining up with the same rhetoric from the last campaign/carnival season about bringing change to Washington.

I just don’t know where to start.   Here in Connecticut we are witnessing the beginnings of the next election where several hopefuls are laying strategy for the race to see who will fill the Senate seat being vacated by the retirement of Senator Dodd.  The point that is interesting to me is that several of the candidates are already lining up with the same rhetoric from the last campaign/carnival season about bringing change to Washington.  Okay, first out of the gate – any fool who thinks that Washington will not be the same after a brand new freshly minted idiot – uh – politician, will have the clout to make change inherently proves they don’t belong there.  They would be lucky if the other kids - uh – Senators even remember their names during their first couple of years in the sandbox.

Everyone is going to go and fix the budget and thus all of our financial woes.  Yeah – right.  The only thing that ever happens is it gets worse and one party blames the other.  Like right now how the Sheepicans are accusing Obama of being responsible for the deficit and horrible financial shape of the country.  Okay, here is a fact.  It cannot be disputed.  Unless you are a Sheepican that is.  When Clinton and the Demabrats left office there was NO DEFICITE.  Eight years later under the Sheepicans we had one again and it was a whopper.  So how do we fix it?  How about we spend probably 20% of the effort being focused on shunting blame all over Washington. Stop arguing simply because the idea doesn’t matter only who’s party it came from and actually fix what is wrong.  Like spending on things that don’t make a rat’s ass of a difference.  How many State and Federal agencies could simply be done away with and no one would even notice?

In the State we could reinstate good time in the prisons and reduce that cost instead of building new buildings and hiring new guards or paying ridiculous amounts of overtime.  Probation could be changed from the current system to simply only like ten percent of the staffing levels.  How?  Stop having useless monitoring and check-ins with probation officers.  These guys for the most part depend exclusively on the police to report back to them when a probationer gets in trouble.  Almost every person on probation has what is called hang time from his or her sentence.  This is the suspended portion of the sentence from the court.  By simply putting a law into effect that says a person on probation who is arrested for a felony crime or a crime similar to what they are on probation for has to serve not only the entire amount of hang time from the first sentence but the max allowed for the new crime. I think it would be astronomically more effective that the current system and cost millions less.  But that will never happen because it makes too much sense and the unions would take out hits on anyone proposing such a thing.  I am not going to go into a rendition about the tax code being fixed and made completely fair by simply doing a flat tax system.  But if everyone paid the federal government X percent of what they made, persons and business alike and that would include the church, it would be fair to all and the government would be funded.

Fix poverty in the United States; require the government to spend dollar for dollar inside the country for every dollar in aid it wants to send out.  Wow, how many jobs and trained workers would be available here and off the welfare rolls?  Shit, two birds with one dollar!

And now the politicians are all jumping on the Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell bandwagon.  It needs to be overturned.  It is simply wrong and evidence of a society that has draconian thinking dragging it down.  Don’t make it a political football.  The men and women who are currently serving their country, our country with honor and valor are not fodder for the political machine nor are the thousands who have given their lives for what this country stands for.  Like freedom of speech so even the most right wing conservative assholes can express their views freely.  And as for the Generals, who are speaking out against the President and efforts to overturn the ban, if they are so engrained in the way things are then they need to stop and remember that a commissioned officer as any member of the active duty military is prohibited from such conduct.  They should be busted down to E-1 and dishonorably discharged.  But that is only in a world where all of the rules are followed and not only the ones that serve the person pontificating.

Admittedly, this is really only a rant.  And maybe we need to do more of it.  The status quo is not going to do it for us if the country and the community are to grow.  We need to but down our blind allegiance to any political party and start demanding real answers.  If an elected official is not performing, out they go.  Yes I am down on the Sheepican party but I think for a good reason.  I am sick of the disinformation tactics constantly being employed to keep its members in line.  Tune in to Fox News to get all the latest information!  Glenn Beck being one of the heroes of the organization.  He told Forbes Magazine in an interview “I could give a flying crap about the political process.  We are an entertainment company” This I guess is serving him well because he made a reported 32 million spewing the fertilizer all over his viewers. From Media Matters, “On the upside, we confirmed that News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch is familiar with the idea of journalistic standards. On the downside, Murdoch appears to be completely unaware that his news network doesn’t have any.”

I have an idea for a really great election bumper sticker and maybe I will get some made up.  Tell me what you think.  RE-ELECT – NO ONE.
