Boy, it Got Hot, Didn’t It?

Hey guys. Given that summer’s drawing to a close, it stands to reason that we suddenly have some hot days, huh?  As I write this, we’ve just had another scorcher, but that’s alright, as it makes up for all the gray rainy days we had earlier in the summer.

We’re sticking with shorter articles, and more of them due to the positive reaction we got from them.  We’ll still run longer articles when space and topic permits, but the feedback we’ve had is that it’s nice to have such a variety of articles to choose from, and it doesn’t take a big commitment to enjoy an article.  So, we’ll keep with this format for a bit and tweak as we go along.

Of course, that means there’s plenty to point to that deserves your attention this issue.  Wayne Besen, which is right over to the right of my column, has a really good look at the American Psychological Association’s recent decision that “ex-gay” therapy is a bunch of hogwash.  We all sort of knew it, but to have such a high authority back it up is really telling, and hopefully it will start to open peoples’ eyes to just how bad this can be for people.  The coming out process is hard enough... trying to shove yourself back into the closet is just going to do more damage.

Elsewhere, Don and Tony, doing double duty as our Travel Editors and our very own Critics on the Aisle, have covered the bases well.  In Travel, check out their second part of their hunt for “La Dolce Vita,” which continues their trip to beautiful Italy.  In the Critics segment, they talk about the ongoing Goodspeed Musicals production of “Camelot.”

Josh keeps up with the latest music and covers the surprising new release by Cascada.  He’s had some negative things to say about them in the past, but he sure seems excited about this one.

We also welcome the return of Seth Evans, who hasn’t appeared on these pages in awhile, returning with his latest Rim Shots.  We like pieces like this to balance the issue out with a bit of humor, and in that vein you can’t go with the one-two punch of humor and advice you get from Uncle Blabby, who this time explains exactly where he gets off giving advice anyway!

Finally, if you haven’t checked out our Web site lately, you’re missing out. We’re posting occasional exclusive or preview articles up between issues, and we’re also posting additional Out & About photos from each set we print.  We did have a delay in getting some recent Out & About sets up, but they will be up within a couple of days of this issue’s release.  Be sure to check them out!

Until next time, I’ll see you Out & About.
