Hey there everyone. I hope you enjoyed the cover photo. It is reminiscent of something sent to me by a friend who entitled it, “And you think you have it cold there---”
Every time I look at that E-mail I realize we don’t have it cold here at all. A day here or there is par for the season. Having to live in that cold for whole seasons at a time has to be a bitch. So if this guy can get used to doing naked snow angels, I think we can hold on a little while longer while spring makes it’s way onto the scene.
Besides, going out in the cold with friends to take in a show or dinner gives us a great reason to try one of the old tried and true Hot Toddies. That’s if your local club knows how to make one. It is a drink that has been warming the insides of many a frozen traveler for years. So go out while it’s still cold and see if your favorite bar knows how to make one. You will be glad you did.
In this issue we cover a couple of interesting subjects. Tony & Don have given us an insight to some vacation opportunities in a warmer climate that may interest more than just a few of you. This piece starts off a mini series of coverage by several different writers who I hope will touch on a wide range of vacation and travel tastes. One writer is currently on a world tour cruise, which sounds promising to read.
Next we touch a little on the law suit regarding proposition 8 out in California. It is a must-read because of the potentially far reaching effects of the ruling when it is issued.
Josh does another music review for us, examining another artist looking back to the 60s while looking firmly ahead, V.V. Brown. The album’s not available yet, but if Josh piques your interest, you can pre-order the album via our link on the article’s page on Metroline Online.
We also touch on the New Haven Pride Center’s up-coming Dorothy Awards. Their theme this year is “Brick by Brick” and how the community, when involved, can build something special, but everything you need to know in the piece is from long-absent (but thankfully here now) Mark Winters.
As always, I hope you enjoy the issue and please keep the comments coming in. Uncle Blabby has issued a challenge for a really good question to be sent in. I don’t know what he means but I am sure you guys can come up with something to stump him. I dare you! Until then I hope to see you Out & About.
